In his diary, Cadel says some were on 34/29 for the TT!

Wow!

The Age report says that the motorbike following Basso fell twice. What happened? Is there a video of the motorbike crashes?

Poor guy! Try running at 15km/h on the flat and then do it at 10-20% gradient whilst pushing a bike with a motorbike helmet on.

That picture does not do the hill justice.12.9 kms in just over 40 mins does though.

I watch the highlightrs on SBS last night and none of the footage really conveyed the steepness of those hills. Wife was sitting there say it doesn't look very steep.
You coudl tell it was though from the look on the guys faces.

It may be general knowledge but why do half the riders have a little bandage thing across their nose?

it's to open the nostrils a little more to get greater air in if needed.

Robbie Fowler (Football) brought this product into the footballing spotlight about 10 years ago when playing for Liverpool. It's a bit like a bandaid with plastic on it. I had a go quite a few years ago and it works quite well for those who have collapsed nostrils or problems with that airway passage. Some did fall away if you sweat a lot.

Supposed to open up the airways a bit more in the nose....also can help people who snore a lot  .

Hopefully the next two nights viewing aren't going to be the leaders marking each other holding out for the 15km time trial.

My prediction: tonight the leaders watching each others form so tomorrow night they can attack each other gaining enough time so the time trial is a formality.

Looking forward to it no matter what eventuates!

Stolen from the Broom Wagon
If Caisse D'Epargne's employee of the month award is not sitting on his desk by the end of May, Australia's Neil Stephens should be one unhappy directeur sportif. With team cars banned on Tuesday, Stephens braved the Plan de Corones with only a bike wheel and an amusingly large helmet. He powers into view behind David Arroyo at around 1.08.

Are my calculations correct and the Giro coverage starts within an hour?

Ouch, just saw BMC are down 4 riders and liquigas have a full team still. Cadel's got his work cut out for him indeed!
