Blood, Sweat and Gears at 22:00 1st July, 2010 SBS One
Postby Aushiker » Thu Jul 01, 2010 11:49 am
SBS One are showing Blood, Sweat and Gears at 22:00 today July 1, 2010.
The doco follows the journey of an American cycling team seeking to compete in its first Tour de France, the epic French bicycle race that covers over 3,500 kilometres in 22 gruelling days. In response to the doping scandals that tarnished the reputation of professional cycling, former racing cyclist Jonathan "JV" Vaughters formed Slipstream, a team whose members agree to compete without the aid of any performance-enhancing drugs. This is the dramatic story of the clean team in 2008, the year in which the team leader was superstar David Millar making a comeback after a doping scandal sidelined his career. 1) Great to see how the team actually works in training and through stages of the Tour
2) Thought the way they handled the drugs issue was great, interesting to listen to David Millar on his experiences and regrets
3) How about the cobblestones in the Paris-Roubaiux, that was just ridiculous. Big Magnus's bike just fell apart underneath him.
that Jonathon Vaughters is a cool cat.

Biggest surprise for me was how much they drink. I thought real pro cyclists drank, umm, nothing, at least during the season. Seemed like every shot that wasn't racing they were sitting around with wine etc. This was a cracking show on a few levels for me

Maybe I'm not drinking enough wine... ?

Actually, that crash in the Tour de Qatar was interesting. I notice not one person said to camera "the stupid (AT)$$^0|* didn't watch where he was (AT)#$%*&% going".Biggest surprise for me was how much they drink.

It is 3360MB so will fit on a DVD. May be able to help out those who missed it but last time I think I could only watch similar backups with Nero on PC as it was MPEG2 format or similar.
May be able to help out with viewing for those who missed. Disc's cost nothing postage well PM me and maybe if I can get working can help out those who missed it.
PM and see what I can do. Torrents would take to long I suggest particuarily at my ADSL speed

I think Tyler let JV know exactly what he thought of their decision to leave him out of the Tour that year. Wish we could have heard both ends of that conversation You'd have to say that Matt White got that one wrong, he pulled hard for Magnus and the stage that Maggie missed the cut off (stage 7) was only a medium mountains/transition stage. He should have done better.
