Vuelta 2010

Postby Chuck » Wed Jul 28, 2010 11:15 am

Some good riders look set to take part, the Schlecks, Menchov, Cavendish, with Contador only a doubtful maybe....

SBS is going to be showing 4 stages live as well which will be good. Already missing my nightly cycling fix with the tour now over.

Mike Tomalaris mentioned it during the preview to the tourmalet stage. Sorry no link although there is probably something up somewhere on SBS.

With the increased length of coverage, for those who don't fast forward to the last 10km, you will see the similarity between the countryside of Aust and some parts of Spain. Minus the haciendas.

Vuelta is LIVE on Eurosport. Pretty much every stage is covered live. So can follow the tour on Foxtel or Austar I think.

Yeah that's pretty awesome. What wasn't so awesome was me sitting through ~40 minutes of BMX (don't get me wrong, I think bmx is pretty cool but there is a limit) and some poor footage of the mtb worlds hoping they were going to show some of the Tour of Geelong (they did last week) but it never came on :(. I don't think that Anthony Tan guy adds much value either.

Shouldn't complain really I guess, it's pretty cool to have that 1 hour of dedicated cycling news on Sunday arvo's.

It's not bad, but the "latest news" bit with Tomo and Tan needs some work, like a life and presentation skills.....

+1 on the BMX stuff as well, they are skilled, but would have rather watched a replay of the '09 worlds ...

Well... that was certainly exciting, narrow streets and night time Team Time Trial.

Could be a low key event for the Aussies, Goss is already set up well, for the kick-off, which other Aussie hopefuls have stage win chances or good GC ranking possibilities?

Managed to stay awake to see HTC take out a killer time...but I crashed out before the end  only the Spanish could get away with 10pm start times! ...not bad apples for a one sprint wonder  .
Eurosport online will be my friend for the next 3 weeks...didn't realise I could watch HD online for under 5 Euro a month  .

Glad I recorded the TTT so I could fast forward it and get it over and done with. I'm not a fan of TT, I want to see the cyclists battling each other on the road head to head, not riding against the clock. The coverage was pretty ordinary with the cameras shooting into the cars headlights a lot of the time, having said that it beats watching the AFL anyday.

I wondered why Julian Dean had on his road helmet and a big padded arm...gotta be careful warming up in the dark!.Not good for Tyler's lead out train.
Going to be really hot today!.

Stage 2 - Alcalá de Guadaíra to Marbella 173.7 km
Cav’s boys lead the way into the last kilometer, but Milram hit the front.
Petacchi and Hushovd are both up there. Hondo leads out Petacchi,
Cav comes around Farrar, but it’s...............
Yauheni Hutarovich who comes rocketing out of Sebastian Chavanel’s slipstream
to pip Cav on the line. A brilliant stage win for Francaise des Jeux. 8)
