Seems like Cadel is going well, as per his diaqry entries for his last few races.

Some other Aussies are also showing well at Vuelta, ToB and subsequent other smaller events.

Should be a cracker - I can't wait to watch it live :D

Any idea of what time it will start and finish ?

Cant wait to head over. Got myself a prime spot on a mates couch for a couple of nights, and my brother has entered us in some MTB race in the You Yangs on the saturday. Should be fun, especially since I havent ridden off road in about 5 years!! Just hope I survive to ride around sunday.

The bit that it's now $165 or people forked out $300. I'd say the latter.

Mind you, I can understand the upset. But paying $300 to ride a public road ?

Too hard to call...Gilbert is super strong but so are many that came thru the Vuelta.Problem is no one knows how hard the course will be!.But man if it comes down to a sprint Robbie will be spitting fire!.

From another site (Cycling Tips Blogspot) that was saying that the Mens RR starts at 10am.

But the telecast is from 9am - 12 on OneHD, but from 12 - 5pm on Ten !!!

Oh well, at least it's not at midnight .....

Time to install that extra 1TB drive for the Tivo :D

I want Cadel to get a second jersey in a row.
Just to stick it to the Euro's! :)

My second option would be any other Aussie winning.

that's what i'd call a moral equivalence argument. if i'd bought a TV that was discounted soon after, i'd feel ripped off by the retailer for happily taking my cash. they're not breaking any laws, but they're not looking out for me either. there's no law against asking for a rebate - they don't have to provide it either, but they would be aware that goodwill towards their 'brand' is at stake.

G'day chaps and chapettes. I've managed to get time off and will be in Melb for the event. I'll be based in the city so need some advice on where best spots to view (yet grab a beer or three) and parking options (not driver...as per beer) etc for Sunday 3rd. Any advice appreciated.

Probably check out the website.

When you say city...do you mean Geelong or Melbourne?

Sorry mean Melbourne. The website is ok but I'm looking for local knowledge as that's usually more reliable.

Friere

Evans; marked, injured earlier, but now (according to his blog) feeling okay, and has a great team in support.

Gilbert

Gerrans - great rider, great team in support.

Hushovd (can do lots of things well and still not a bad sprinter).

Can I have a sixth? Fabian.... but he's low on support.
Of course, since I have no idea what I'm talking about I'll no doubt be completely wrong, but since when has that stopped anyone?

last words maybe, i doubt evans will be anywhere. he's had a tough season, been injured and away from racing. if he wins in Geelong, he should be feted as a hero.

All the marked men seem to struggle to get away in the WC. I am going for a wildcard - Carlos Barredo.

Durbridge is currently the fastest on the course. 1.08 in front of the nearest competitor.

Still about 30 riders to run though.

EDIT:

Luke crossed in a time of 42:52:19, 2min 11s in front of his nearest rival and currently in first place..

Still more riders to come though.
