where does the mens rd course start and where does it travel through melbourne before heading to geelong?

i have seen the course on the website however it doesn't really show it

Th neutral start begins at Federatio Square, and then it goes down St kilda road until the gallery.
They then turn right onto southbank boulevard, and then left onto kavanaugh street.
Then they turn left onto power street, wich leeds them to the westgate.
The official race start is at the westgate near the melbourne exhibition centre.

And he won the bunch sprint by about 3 lengths at that!

Yeah the teams who don't want a big bunch at the finish are going to have to be very aggressive. A number of different types of riders would consider themselves chances, looking forward to it.

Still picking Fab, but this could be Thor's best chance. Can't see him winning a flat sprint containing all the big guns anymore, but he's stronger than ever.

don't think it will be a sprint. the u/23 race was only 170 km or so, the teams were not as strong as the elite mens will be. belgium and italy will be wreaking havoc for gilbert and pipo - cavendish and his ilk will be blown out the back i reckon.

From the photos Rob and Niel provided, published on BNA, it looks like the riders are doing it tough up the hills - so for the womens and mens Elites, far from being a 4 hour cruise for the peloton and the in the last 40km, I wonder if the hills will play a big roll in really breaking up the peloton getting into the second half.

It came down to the last lap; the final six km saw Judith Arndt and Nicole Cooke dragged each other along the Esplanade to Moorabool Street. Once on Moorabool Street the peloton came back together in preparation for a bunch sprint as expected.

Our highest placed Australian was Ruth Corset coming in 26th place and Vicki Whitelaw coming in 28th.

The results for the Elite Women’s Road Race at the 2010 UCI World Championships are;

2. Marianne Vos (NED)
3. Emma Johansson (SWE)

where abouts? Up at the stands for press it was still good, although most of the press have decided to stay in the press centre for the duration of there stay

The spectator leaning over the barrier taking a photo of the approaching sprint was also in the wrong. Probably got a broken camera, if not arm, as a reminder of their stupidity.

not on the course, on one of the detours around it - dunno the street names.

there was one other excited person i met, the despotic volunteer on the finish line after the race, as the sparse crowd was dispersing.

No change in the medals, UCI says no fault and Sweden has accepted that

I was impressed she managed to stay upright and still take 3rd. Nice bit of bike handling skill. When LA hit a spectator at much slower speed he crashed...

The Footy Final (repeat) was yesterday and today is the main event of the Championships so it should be fine.
