vail laurent fignon

Postby jules21 » Tue Aug 31, 2010 10:01 pm

passed today, apparently. a hero of cycling and one of the reasons i became interested in the sport as a boy.

aged 50 and winner of the 83-84 Tour.

i watched his monster attacks on the 89 tour on recorded Beta cassette dozens of times.

Why does it appear so many ex champs die young; aged 50 should have been super fit

Is it the dreaded ******

Only know of some of his exploits. Another person taken too early by a bastard of a disease. :(

A true legend of the sport and a great loss. I want a frame with his name on it!

The ones who make a song and dance of it never leave :P

Re Fignon, 2 x Tours overall + 9 stages, 1 x Giro overall + 3 stages, Vuelta podium + 2 stages, Milan San Remo, La Fleche Wallone and he lost a couple of his best chances at the Tour (85/86) because of injury.

The guy was a gun.
