And now it's the "systems" fault, not his.

In cycling news story, it's the testing systems fault. He's still sticking to the "meat" defence, and now branching out to the "system fault" defence.

Wonder how long it will take to move to the "Floyd Defence - gotta do it or you lose..."

1) How many people are waiting to send him money for his legal fund?
2) He was a team mate of Lance Armstrong once and did LA encourage him to dope on clenbuterol? Will he spill and start a Spanish Inquisition?

It's interesting that one of the other athletes banned for clen was able to use hair follicle analysis of the team to prove that they had all been exposed at the same time. I guess Alberto was the only team member special enough to eat the steak.

Or the other riders don't want to help ....

Or they let him have the "special" steak as a treat .....

In the CN article about his appeal re the suspension, it mentions that FOUR of huis urine samples returned a +ve for clen ...

I still can't understand how they can argue that if it was this mythical steak, why NONE of the other team members also tested +ve ?

AC had the biggest steak in the plastic bag. It covered all the other steaks and prevented contamination of all others.

Man, I can already picture this years TDF with spectators dressed as steaks and chasing the riders.

Returning to cycling in General, makes it harder for teams to get sponsorship which is a shame having hoping that cycling was moving forward and presenting itself as a cleaner sport.

Brilliant !!!!

On some other forums, the discussion is much deeper, so deep in fact that the argument is that the receipt is for a particular cut of steak that was 3.2kg or so, but typically it's only 2.5kg, therefore it's dodgy

Bah, he had a banned substance, be a man and take the 12 months and stop whining.

only Vino was tested, apparently, and he reckons he didn't eat the steak (of course).

Contador ban to be overturned? :)

(the Spanish cycling federation’s competitions committee is considering overturning the decision
due to legal considerations.)
Spanish Prime Minister Jose Luis Rodriguez Zapatero believes there is no legal basis
for punishing Tour de France champion Alberto Contador

the spanish may as well just admit they don't mind a bit of doping by their riders, as long as the titles keep rolling in. the UCI and CAS will fix that though.

Does he need more voter support at the next general election?

These matters are meaningless to ask politicians to administrate. Talk about conflict of interest!

Just as we are allowed an opinion.
Jose Luis Rodriguez Zapatero is allowed his opinion (and probably his carries more weight... )

UCI will not accept it and will take it to the next level. He will still miss the TDF 2011.

clentador's future is bleak. i haven't heard any convincing evidence in support of his unlikely steak excuse and i assume the spanish have accepted it on the basis of national pride. that won't help him at the CAS and it only further erodes the spanish federation's already poor credibility on doping matters. if ricco was spanish, i suppose they'd argue he just had a high fever and should be left alone to recover in peace.
