Astana And Contador

Postby senator52 » Sun Oct 21, 2007 12:06 am

I was thinking about the situation Astana is in, they lose Vino and Kash to doping and didnt really see it coming unlike many other teams and their star riders. So who do they go and employee in the offseason? Alberto Contador, the man who remains under a public cloud of wariness from the Puerto investigation despite being officially cleared, last years TdF winner and certainly one of the most promising young riders in the world right now, heck he has already WON the TdF so that makes him one of the best riders in the world right now! So what is it that disturbs me? This situation almost strikes deja vu in my heart it is so similar to Discovery hiring Ivan Basso. I love watching cycling, the pain, the tactics, the accelerations and of course the superhuman performances which just dazzle me with their amazing strength and fortitude, its just sometimes i wonder which performances are actually superhuman..? Hopefully Contador proves me wrong (but Cadel wins next years Tour!) because cycling needs a revival and another doping scandal to a TdF winner can certainly be done without. Vive le tour!
