Her sprinting style is not good for womens cycling - especially when people get seriously injured from it.Missy24 wrote:nope... but she wins and she will look good on a wetbix box and she's good for womens cycling, that being said i was watching the video of the womens race and I'd like to know why they all look so disorganised
Lots of girls just looking to warm up for the nats.....and perhaps forgetting what the team plan was
Some of the bigger teams/riders are saving themselves for the nats

Don't like it. Happens too often, and always in the direction of other riders.Drunkmonkey wrote:Is she unable to sprint without moving off her line by a mile?

Nice shot sure, but it doesn't show sprinting style and how she continues to sprint of her line.

Sprinting is always aggressive, changing your line to box people in to avoid getting beaten is not what sprinting is about - positioning yourself and having the best legs to get to the line first is what its about.LittleWheelsandBig wrote:Bike racing isn't drag racing, everybody in their own lanes side-by-side. Sprinting has always involved a degree of muscling/intimidating the opposition, controlling the sprint and careful positioning to avoid being boxed in. Things have been getting too sanitised over the past decade, it is good to see a little aggressive sprinting nowadays.
Bronzini and Hushovd didnt have to move off their line to claim their rainbow jerseys - just pure power was needed.

So do I, within the rules and fairplay - the commissaires get it right most timesLittleWheelsandBig wrote:If you just want to watch pure power, make them sprint on windtrainers. I prefer to watch sprinters with brains, cunning and fast legs.

I think the commissaires clamp down a little too much, leading to boring sprinting and racers who can't cope with anything more difficult than a dragstrip situation. It would have been nice to see the MB Cycles and Sweet As girls riding in the Bay Classic series......would have made the racing more interesting.

Some of the action that I have seen lately and resulted in disqualification is just soft and takes away from the excitement factor.
I do however agree, that to drift way off line and take out another rider is bad!

The one thing that does annoy me with her is her interview style. The constant advertising barrage and scripted sounding praise of her team mates just gets to me. I say drop the try hard marketing spiel and just be yourself and race your bike. I'd rather hear what you think rather than what you think the sponsors want to hear.
Of course im just a freakin armchair critic and I would probably be far more robotic in a tv interview

Women's cycling needs marketing as much as possible and I think Rochelle is very much aware of that, she also knows that in order to keep her contracts with sponsors that she needs to tow the line.Baldy wrote:Hmmm well what I have seen of her sprints my take is she is borderline but not really much worse or better than some of the other women or some men. There is no doubt she is bloody quick though so I admire her for that.

I spoke with her before the world champs last year and I enjoyed her honesty, drive and determination. She is a very calculated person, she seems to be the sort of person that knows what she's going to say it before she says it and its in line with what she wants to achieve. My article with her if you hadn't see it is here

Maybe, but her interview straight after the Cronulla crit was just plain ridiculous.Missy24 wrote:Women's cycling needs marketing as much as possible
