I was watching a pretty ordinary Italian feed that froze with about 700m to go. Audio was still working though, so had a pretty good idea who crossed first.

If fabu was better positioned it would have been tight, he put the power down right at the end and scored himself a couple of places. Was watching Gossy turning a big gear when he was sitting 4th/5th wheel and you could tell he was confident.

2nd Australian to ever win a "monument" and it didn't even rate a mention on cycling central yesterday (well the first 50mins anyway). It was on the ABC's website and also in the Sydney Morning Herald who are really good and regularly feature articles by Rupert Guinness.
This really is a huge result and ranks right up there with O'Grady's PR and Evans' WC efforts as far as one day road racing goes. Flanders and Roubaix just got more interesting from an Australian point of view. I wonder how hard he'll go at Ghent Wevelgum now, which was the race he seemed to be aiming at.
Had a chuckle at the Tour of South Africa highlights where they had to abandon the stage due to cars on the course. They showed the break away get confused with which way to go and they ended up in down town traffic. They restarted the race and gave them their 1m30s advantage and soon after they were in traffic again, only to restart it I think 3 times before they abandoned all after 130km or so racing. Comedy gold!

Yeah I get that. Pretty sure they've covered events that took place the Saturday night before on previous shows though. The result was so big that imho they should have re recorded the intro and added some highlights. Not a major deal though their support of cycling is much appreciated here . Hopefully we'll get some extended highlights next week.
i think the reason may have been that mike tomolaris was on holiday. i like that mike seems to want to champion the broadcast of cycling in australia - i get the feeling he is the driving force behind it.

Agree, but compared to a few years ago, it's much better than nothing (like we used to get)
All we need now is live coverage of the Giro & Vuelta
