2011 Giro

How quickly has this come around again.

I wonder if Contador would be riding this if he was certain to be allowed to ride the Tour ??

A few live stages on SBS would be nice

On Cycling Central yesterday Mike said there would be "selected" important mountain stages and the final stage live on SBS :D

that'll be good for a nice full-tv picture, but should be able to find streaming sites through steephill.tv

Here's hoping this year is just as thrilling as last years Giro. I've also heard that some stages are being shown live on SBS.

Who's everyone tipping for the Maglia Rosa? My tip is Nibali - if he is racing the Giro this year...

he's had a good lead up. so has Le Mével but i think the "toughest giro" be too tough. Petacchi will be the top sprinter...he's looking lean and climbing well too.

i love what the organisers have done with the Giro. this will be awesome to watch - the parcours is far more difficult than the TdF.

last years giro was superb, that was my first year watching it after foxtel added eurosport. Great to be able to follow a whole season now. The route this year looks even more brutal than last !

Looks like SBS is doing 30min episodes starting Sunday night at 6.00pm for this years Giro.

Monday and Tuesday I can also see at the same time...30mins..

Sounds like they only provide full coveage for the Tour De France?

This might be more helpful :

http://www.steephill.tv/giro-d-italia/

EDIT********************

Actually for those who have Eurosport on Foxtel or Austar this might help

They are calling it "Tour of Italy" - Starts on Saturday (Why the F*&k they couldn't call it what it is!!!)

Starts Saturday night - 10:30pm AEST - goes until 01:30AM Sunday Morning.
Sunday night - 10:15pm - 01:15am

ETC... and each day after that...

People with Foxtel who have IQ's or IQ2 and the Eurosports package should be able to record this via their online web tvguide

http://www.foxtel.com.au/whats-on/tv-guide/default.htm

People with AUSTAR and MyStar or MyStar HD boxes also should be able to setup recordings using the AUSTAR online tvguide- again you will have to have the eurosports package

http://tvguide.austar.com.au

Hope this helps....

Sure I do know why the call it that, however the race's name is the Giro D'Italia... Can't understand why they need to give it it's "English" name when it is not required.

Their national race should be called by the correct name. Had I not looked it up on Eurosport directly and as the search functions on the Tvguide only show SBS coveage when you type in "Giro"

HTC Highroad won the TT with Marco Pinotti holding the pink jersey.

Good TT for HTC. I see Renshaw wasn't in the 5 that went through first...did he lead the line for a portion of the start and drop off or just couldnt keep up?
