Tour of California Stage 1 cancelled

Postby Becker_11 » Mon May 16, 2011 7:58 am

I have searched the forums prior to posting this and not found a thread so I decided to start this one.

I have just read over at cyclingnews that stage 1 has been cancelled due to poor weather. http://bit.ly/iBBN2i

Seems like a good idea if you ask me.
Regards
Nathaniel

Tour of California 2011

Well, the marketing people are heavily promoting this race and SBS is in, so how about a dedicated thread? Maybe the mods can assist by combining the following threads in here?

What I am interested in is Andy Schleck. Is he still warming up for July? He is certainly not in as dominating form as Contador over at the Giro. Or does he feel this is not the race he needs to win, and make some more friends before July? And what happened to Leipeimer? Going to let his buddy Horner gain some well deserved fame before they both retire?

What about the poor guy that got tangled in Jen's wheel and flipped and landed heavily on his back and head ? Apparently lightly concussed and started in the next stage with heaps of climbing ....

Saw the video and it was hell of a whack on the back of the head. Surprised that there weren't more mention of that accident and good to know he got away "lightly". Despite all the aero spines, guess helmets are protective in the reverse direction too.

Shame Matt Goss just missed out in Stage 5. But what a contrast b/n ToC and Giro in terms of the track condition. ToC sprints on 8 lane boulevard while Giro sprints through a 1 lane wide U-turn within 1.5km of the finish.

Still can't believe Andy Schleck couldn't keep up with Leipheimer on Mt Baldy yesterday and it's just 6 weeks to TdF. Well deserved late career accolade for Horner.

8th overall at 4'33" is a better effort than last year where he lost over 14 minutes on the main climbing stage and finished outside the top 20. He knows what he's doing.
