Not very patriotic of me but it's a crap song.

What? I think Tina did a fantastic job and she looked fit too. Maybe I was just a little tired and emotional by then.Myddraal wrote:Cadel you little bloody ripper.

WOW! Really impressive performance.
I thought that he had 16 starts (2011 was his 16th) and now 15 finishes. Joop started and finished 16, so to beat Joop, he has to start and finish his 17th go.

P&P said they pulled him out of his first one cause he was only 21, and the team (US Postal back then?) didnt think he should go all the way. 17 starts, 1 withdrawal (no abandons!), and so equals Joop's 16 finishes. I think Cyclingnews had a picture of the number 17 on the top tube of his bike. In this sort of sporting environment, a huge effort. Whats Stuey up to now?MichaelB wrote:il padrone wrote:17 times on the TdF for George Hincapie, 16 finishes

Did anyone else catch Paul saying "Oppenheimer and Anderson" in the pre-race pro-Aussie outpouring last night? Opp-who? I can forgive him for being caught up.

In an effort to keep it somewhat topical: Ride of the Tour?
There's so many. Cadel's win, Hoogerland's comeback, Roy and Thor stage 13...but I reckon TV hanging on to yellow for so long against seemingly long odds was the ride of the tour. You could see it sliding away on stage 19 and he knew it, but he kept going despite things (i.e. legs) not functioning 100% by that stage.

I think that there were many, but for me it's a tie between Thor & Voeckler for both holding onto Yellow far longer than anyone thought possible.
Thor takes it though because he won two stages as well.
Honourable mentions ;
Cadel's rides on St 4, 18, 19 & 20
Hoogerland for even finishing, let alone getting into other breaks
Rolland for supporting TV so well, and winning a stage and the White Jersey
Andy for his daring break
BMC's outstanding TTT
That's a start anyway

I agree with this. While it was a great tour for Cadel, his ride and some of the attacks by the favourites shouldn't have been too unexpected. TV was expected to lose yellow at the first stage of the Pyrenees and held on to it far longer with some great mountain rides.familyguy wrote:In an effort to keep it somewhat topical: Ride of the Tour?

Simon.

Apparently Yes..She lives in Paris now. Good on her for offering to sing for Cadel, it was a nice touch.
I thought it might get all schmaltzy but it went over OK IMO.
