What a race though, the anticipation adds to the buzz when it starts. Can't wait :)

So how many have been watching the live coverage of the track nationals during prime time on SBS?

Me! Lucky I only just found out about it an hour before it started.

That may be a bit of a problem when its not on a channel you usually watch

Yep.
I've never watched track racing before and have to admit I found it intriguing. To my thinking was great coverage and thoroughly enjoyable.

Exactly.
SBS coverage of the TDU is assumed. Channel 9 coverage is new and as one of the biggest cycling events in Aus, already has reach.

Track is still a niche sport and outside the realm of popular media, except when it comes to Olympic Gold Medal tallies. I admit that while I knew of the Track Championships, I didn't know that it was being televised before you mentioned it.

Last year we got some brief highlights on Cycling Central of track nats (even I appeared racing my pursuit) but no real coverage. I only found out it was on by chance.

Perhaps not having the TDU freed up resources at SBS to do something else, and we've all ended up with more overall cycling coverage as a result.

And I'm already looking forward to SBS's coverage of the World Track Championships in Melbourne in April.

Thank you SBS. Loved both nights. It was well publicised in my world - mentioned on a forum, mentioned last week on CC, mentioned on CC TDU coverage and reminder from CC on Fb.

TdU Channel Nine coverage

Postby ozzymac » Mon Feb 13, 2012 7:41 pm

Don't know about getting the raw end of the stick.

The other day they even telecast live the India / sri Lanka match on gem!

And there was soooooooooo many people watching it live at the game......... ( not)

Compared to the cycling audience of the TDU of 100,000 every day.

Just a joke, they could of telecast the tour on gem.

Cheers

Nein has no sports leadership. They are destroying the goodwill they've built in league and cricket. 7's overtaken them in ratings...they are floundering. If Gina Rinehart bought 9 she could be lobbied (but she doesn't strike me as a sports fan of any sort). Pity she's more interested in Fairfax.
