it seems that Renshaw was leading out Bos, before Bos crashed. he did well to take 6th after presumably doing a lot of work before starting his sprint.

I'm hoping they give Renshaw the nod tonight. He did heaps for Theo last night only to have him dump it. Commentators noted his racecraft is not up to Renshaw etc's level.

Did anyone see the final sprint for the second stage? I'm wondering how close it was and if it was Cav's kick that got him the win again. He seems to get a bike length and then holds it.

He was on another plane.Came over Goss and got a length with about 100m to go and then held it. Thor got out of the gate early and faded, Tyler too slow and Renshaw had done too much trying to lead Bos out.

Goss looked good though and will win a stage or two, just needs a harder finish. :D

Thanks, a few wins in the tdf coming up this year too then, hopefully someone can kick with him though to keep it interesting.

I would say Cav didnt look supremely strong him and goss drag raced for a while and he wasnt heaps stronger than Gossy. I think Renshaw lacks the kick to keep up with them however Theo Bos has it so with a bit of luck he can do it.

English at sbs, but CT has longer highlights - which shows contact between GreenEdge and Rabo at 3:29 and again about 20 seconds later. Almost like Brown but I wouldn't have thought he'd be no. 3 there. Did Bos touch Renshaw's wheel?

Watched it last night, and again this afternoon. I agree that Cav didn't look as strong as I've seen him at previous TDF's. (this is my first year following cycling apart from the TDF). But Cav at 70% is still too much for Goss. They both jumped out from behind Thors wheel with 200 meters to go, with Cav right next to Goss. Cav had a clear lead with 100 meters to go and Goss tried to jump on to Cavs wheel, but couldn't. I didn't understand Goss trying to get Cavs wheel when there was no chance he was going around Cav.

I'm afraid that Goss is in the second tier of sprinters when it comes to the big races.

Funny, that is not what Cav thinks of Gossy....
Cav wrote:’Gossy' is the only rider I fear right now to beat me in a bunch sprint,” he told the Sydney Morning Herald at the Tour of Qatar. “When he is on form he is incredible. He arrives so fresh because he can climb well, and he is clever on the bike

Nothing like a bit of psychological gamesmanship. I think sprinters such as André Greipel pose a much greater threat to Cav. That is a much up I'm waiting to see this year.

Cav has Goss's measure and knows it. What he's saying, without saying it, is he doesn't rate the other big sprinters. It's called gamesmanship.

It's interesting that he points out how Goss can get over the climbs, because that is one thing Goss (and other sprinters such as Filippo Pozzato) has over some of the top sprinters. Cav and Greipel will be dropped on any decent climb and not be there to contest a group sprint, where as Goss can get over, even if he is sick, i.e Milan San Remo. Or if they are still with the finishing group, don't have the legs to go as hard as on a flat stage.

Awesome riding by GreenEDGE over the last 8 kilometres. Always being squeezed in the middle up the front. Then 1km to go three of them come around the outside and hit the front. Goss jumps at about 300 meters to go and leads a long sprint home.

Cav got cut down 200 meters from the line and had two lime green riders ride over him, the second crashing.

Happy to eat my words.

Oh, and Talyor Phinney went down to and looks bad, maybe a broken ankle.

It looked to me like even if he didnt come down Goss has his measure. Also Disappointing by renshaw had a pretty clean run and couldnt do much at all, as I said he doesnt have the kick should be working for Bos.

That's already a big discussion point over at CN. Some feel Cav had greater speed coming around the outside and would have got Goss. I'm not going to get in to what if's but.

I've watched the finish a couple of times, Cav would have made some place's but i couldn't see him getting Goss. You can see him go for his sprint and he gets that acceleration but he wouldn't have held that all the way to the line he would have redlined also he wouldn't have been able to go in a straight line. Goss would have won, hope Cav isn't too banged up would like to see him and Goss to continue to go at it.

Nice win for Goss, hard to say what would've happened if Cav hadn't gone down. Extremely dodgy move by Ferrari, when you watch the overhead shot of it looks terrible, just cuts right across. The dude who then bunny hopped over Cav - that was an impressive move!

Great for Gossy. I haven't seen the finish yet, but remember Cav has the mythical double sprint

Surprised no-one commented much on Monday's crash. Bos got bumped by someone on the inside, was going into Renshaw's wheel, braked, locked the rear, slid and flipped. What was amazing was that his back wheel was going straight into the Danish guy's head as Bos put him into the barriers. Pretty spectacluar from the overhead. I saw that on Eurosport, but not on the Sky highlights.

There was some great over head footage of Farrar pinballing too. All that bumping at 40-50kmh is just amazing. Amazing that there aren't more crashes. You can even see a wheel touch where he steers into the wheel touch, wobbles, bumps someone, straightens and carries on.

Not sure if Goss is planning to go all the way to Milan, but there is a huge opportunity for GE to take a jersey in their first GT 8)

Great news to wake up to this morning. If there wasn't the carsh, who knows, but as the old saying goes, "To finish 1st, first you have to finish".

Glad to see that Phinney is OK.

Can't wait to see the telecast tonight

I reckon Goss had it anyway, his leadout was brilliant, but Ferrari is a madman, he had a gap on the inside and swerved across to the outside anyway.

Awesome bunnyhop, bet his heartrate was a bit elevated at the finish.

Good win by Goss and Greenedge who had the best leadout 8) . Looked liked Cav was too far back before that turkey swerved wildly and took him out.

Who was that bloke with the bunnyhop :?: :)
