Hushovd to retire this year

Postby find_bruce » Fri Jun 27, 2014 9:48 pm

In January his plan was to retire before 2017
“It’s a long way. I’m already 39 by then, and my plan is not to go that far,” said Hushovd, who insisted, however, that he is not lacking in motivation as he faces into his 15th professional season.

“I love riding my bike as long as the health is there and the form is there. If I do a good season this year, [I will race for] a couple more years.”

In June the BMC closed the door but Hushovd's agent told Cyclingnews that the Norwegian hopes to carry on racing for a further two years despite his age and long career.

Sadly however it seems that no contract was forthcoming & so Hushovd retires at the end of the seaosn

No real surprise. He's getting on, and has really failed to perform the last few years.

Oh, I think that's a bit harsh. Maybe not as an out and out sprinter, but he's been in more than a few breaks and has got plenty of attention for sponsors.
