TDF detailed course maps
Postby Uba Tracker » Sat May 21, 2016 5:42 pm
Hi all, I'm looking for some detailed course maps of the TDF, more than just just a vague super imposed nikko thick line between start and finish points. I'm planning to catch stages 4 & 5 and since I'm driving myself around the French country side I'd like to know where exactly the route is going to be. Hate to miss a bit 'cos I got lost.
A bad day's riding beats a good day's work everytime

Keep an eye on the official TDF web site. The road book should go on sale soon.

Never seen that before. Is it an electronic version or a paper magazine type item ?RonK wrote:Keep an eye on the official TDF web site. The road book should go on sale soon.
Dare I ask what the cost is ?
Will also be helpful for me on the trip for St 18 & 19
Cheers

It's a spiral bound book - the official route as used by the commentators and team directors.
I dunno how much. I think they sell out pretty quickly too.

Hmmmm, may be difficult to get, although found a site that has past ones, but not much good for this year.
'Shop' on official page only has t-shirts etc.

It won't be published until a couple of weeks before the start, to allow for any late route changes.MichaelB wrote:Hmmmm, may be difficult to get, although found a site that has past ones, but not much good for this year.

Here is an interesting article that shows what you can expect to find in the contents. So now you know where Sherwin gets his information about the landmarks he describes in the commentary.

Detailed maps will be posted on the TDF website closer to the time... It is worth getting a good map of the area and printing off the time schedule as well... With that you can plot the actual course pretty easily.

Have sourced some IGN 1:25,000 maps which are pretty good and should do the job pretty well.

Cycling news have posted links to the full route maps, but they are still high level, and not detailed, but a good start

Edit : Actually, Velowire have hi-def maps in .pdf form (about 4 MB or so each, but they are legible if printed in A3

If you look at the last page of this forum post, you'll see a downloadable pdf of the 2016 TdF Raodbook (French version so far)
