They have their own team in the Comm games, so that's it for me
But yeah, following your analogy he's warm beer.

Just how old are you? The Isle of Man hasn't been part of England since at least 1765.Philistine wrote:Last time I checked the Isle of Man was still a part of England. Cavendish is as English as soggy fish and chips wrapped in newspaper.
They have their own parliament & currency, they don't get to vote in UK elections, nor in the recent Brexit poll, principally because they are not even part of the European Union. As F&O says they are a crown dependency, where the crown is none other than Betty Windsor, or to give her the relevant title "Lord of Mann".

Hard luck story for me is a toss up...Valverde crashing out of what may have been his last chance at a TDF on the first stage...and De Gendt, for being shafted on the Super combative prize. Landa gets an honorable mention for thinking he was going to be the first one in 7 years of Sky tactics to get a chance.
If Porte ever completed a GT I'd have given him a nod. But he doesn't, so there's no hard luck. Just SOP.

Bit harsh F&O - Porte has ridden in 11 GTs & finished 9 of them. Sure he has only twice finished in the top 10, but he usually finishes.fat and old wrote:Back to Le Tour...

Landa cracks me up the way he is talking himself up as a GT winner, despite losing 1:41 to Froome in the 2 ITTs (stages 1 & 20). Its like the unintentional comedy gold of Andrew Talansky & others who never fail to promote their chances leading up to a GT before fading to miserable obscurity.
Got to agree with you that de Gendt was robbed though

True enough. He'll still have a shot at a Vuelta; possibly a Giro though. Depending on the team backing him.Landa cracks me up the way he is talking himself up as a GT winner, despite losing 1:41 to Froome in the 2 ITTs (stages 1 & 20). As long as Richey Porte stays on his bike, and doesn't wait patiently every time a Grand Tour leader on GC makes a wrong turn, has a mechanical or a puncture.fat and old wrote:I knew I should have added "as leader" to the Porte comment. And I know he got a 5th last year....and a bust in the '14 Giro. He's a great super dom, and an even better one week man (maybe the best?) but needs to get the score on the board (at least a few more top 5's....hell, even useless TVG managed one!) .

Anyway on a completely different topic. Can anyone tell me the bike Kittel was riding in the hills...and crashed out on. It wasnt a Venge or the new Tarmac that others were riding.
I kept seeing the bike on the telecast and its annoying the (AT)#$% out of me.
Cheers

He wasn't riding that bike when he crashed. It looked like the old rim-brake Tarmac to me but my eyesight isn't what it used to be.march83 wrote:Venge Vias Disc: http://www.bikeradar.com/au/road/gear/a ... isc-50291/

This bike - whatever it is...according to this article it's the new tarmac.biker jk wrote:He wasn't riding that bike when he crashed. The bike in the photo is not the new Tarmac since the seat stays join the seat tube at the top tube junction. The new Tarmac has the seat stays joining the seat tube well below the top tube (like the Canyon Aeroad).RonK wrote:This bike - whatever it is...according to this article it's the new tarmac.biker jk wrote:He wasn't riding that bike when he crashed. And that's the photo I was referencing.
Rim brakes too.

Odd isn't - that bike has his TDF race number on it so presumably it's the one he started the stage on. But the gallery at the bottom of the linked page has the new Tarmac, also with his TDF race number on it. Counting the Venge that is three different bikes he rode the year.biker jk wrote:The bike in the photo is not the new Tarmac since the seat stays join the seat tube at the top tube junction.
