Interesting rider transfers for 2018 ...
Postby MichaelB » Fri Aug 04, 2017 10:25 am
Barguil to Fortuneo - some see this as sensible and explain it well, but mmmmmm. Big fish in a little pond.
Moinard out of BMC - wasn't doing his job well ?
Nieve to Orica-Scott - not happy at Sky ? Good mountain support for Yates' & Chaves
Sinkeldam & Preilder - leave Sunweb despite their good fortunes. Don't want to be doms ?
Quintana - don't know where he is going, but internal ructions at Movistar ?
Ceratianly not an incomplete list, and haven't included those that make sense or are visible why the change (Kristoff for example), more those that seem to have some behind the scenes issues that are not explained
Any others that have you scratching your heads ?

Not a transfer, but stoked to see Cam Meyer back at Orica Scott.

There is a fairly comprehensive transfer list here: The dance for new teams has begun.

Still no news on Landa though, and sensible move by Kwaito to stay on a good wicket - selfless and humble super dom duties rewarded with good support at other races. Seems like a good deal.

Too late. He blew that chance when he stayed on after rode the WC in 2015 and scewed Matthews over.RonK wrote:Rumours, apparently about Gerro. Time for him to retire gracefully I think.

“I am very proud to have been part of the Wolfpack,” Kittel said of his time at Quick-Step
It's good to see Germans taking pride in their history when they can.
Damn...Bruce beat me!

Both have signed for the Israeli Cycling Academy - they are trying to step up to a higher level and hope to get a GT start, but really ? Must have been a good wad of cash ....

Everyone at Cannondale to whoever will take them
Gotta feel for that crew, being notified at this point. With regards to Uran....as he knocked back offers from a few teams I wonder will they offer less now? Same would go for most of them (riders) actually?

The reduction in team sizes to eight for GTs and a 176 rider limit for all World Tour and Continental races will not be helping either.MichaelB wrote:Yep, sh!tty timing for them for sure. There are quite a few that don't have contracts either past the end of the year, so some worse than others.
Hope it all works out

Beat me to it. Wonder what the real story is - didn't fit in with the GC team approach or doing a Barguil - all for me and me for me.fat and old wrote:Gerrans to BMC. Not sure how that'll pan out....is he capable of burying himself for somebody else?

Sprints Ewan
Classics Hayman, Kruks etc
I think given his admittedly good palmares and history of being a protected rider/focal point it may be the latter. Time will tell
