A good ride by the girls in the Road Race and Chloe Hosking taking it out. Well done girls! 8)

Missed the womens race (because I was out riding :)) . But watched the mens race.
Perfect finish after a race that saw a lot of stuff going on early.
Great to see Steele come through after a disciplined ride by the Australian Team.

There may have been some whooping going on here as Steele hit the front

Apparently it was 6 - 4 Thoracic and 2 in his neck (wot he said on the telly) !!

NZ stuffed that finish up - 4 in the last group, and none in the medals ....

Watched both live....great course and spectating at a variety of points was super easy. Great for the kids to see 2 Gold Medal winners!

Agree the Kiwis stuffed up as they had the Aussies on the rope after we had to work so hard to regroup.

Highlight for me was Cam Meyer's arm in the air celebrating as Steele crossed the line.
Shows what a true team sport top level cycling is.

The route for the Mens RR is here on Ride with GPS.

Had to laugh as the cue sheet is in German !!!

Seemingly innocuous route with 216m of climbing per 18.7km lap, but stull, after 9 laps, it'd be hard. From the riding I've done there, Qld like to make rises in the road steep

^^^

One of the main climbs had a 270 degree turn entering it to ensure most speed was washed off. Plain stats can be deceptive.

Was interesting as the non bike riding Outlaws came with us and the sheer speed and effort (judged by the look on riders faces) amazed them. What do they think cyclists do...sit around and drink coffee all day?
