I still think MTS always had one of these big stages targeted, with the big mountains team they came here with they have only really ridden the Chaves won stage on their terms.

Looks like Yatesy has cracked. 2 min behind and not even to the dirt on Finestre !! What a bugger.

Just hope that Pozzo can hang on !!

Now I’ve had time to read the sites, I think George Bennett’s reaction has taken the prize off Tony Martin lol

Was not expecting ANY of that!!

Kudos to Froome - bold attack, BUT**
Devestated for Yates, but he can hold his head high, as can rest of team
Disappointed for Pozzo !
Gutted for the Aussie Ben O’Connor who crashed out
Feel for TD who just didn’t quite make it. Despite being the most consistent, just can’t deliver that blow
Well done for Pinot to get up to 3rd, Reichenbach did really well

Interesting stage tonight.

** Yeah I know the rules, but he shouldn’t be racing because of the AAF, and if he gets banned, it really takes gloss of Giro

Gutsy ride by Froome. He put it all out there and it payed off. Say what you like about Froome, but that was exciting racing as good as it gets. It takes a special rider to have the guts to go for that and then pull it off. Many had ruled him out but with a rider like him or Contador or Nibali or similar, you need more than 5 minutes before 3 back to back mountain stages to rule them out. Not many riders can do the same thing. Too many climbers are scared to put their nose in the wind for a few kms and will only attack if they can climb to the finish.

It could have gone the other way if there was more collaboration in the Dumoulin group... but nobody else except Pinot in that group had any reason to limit time losses to Froome.

We won't know the winner of this Giro for 6 months.

Scroll down for the Landis memes
That is GOLD !!

Alex hit the nail on the head. As long as he then doesn’t flop tonight like the stage after Zoncolan win

Means there are still 3 stages to decide the winner of the Giro - 20, 21 & CAS

Just wonder if anyone has anything left to try and crack him. It’s a long Stage with lots of climbing tonight.

Sky worked hard yesterday, so the whole team will be a bit cooked...

Team Sky had guys on the side of the road in case Froome needed to take a few puffs.

Well that sucks.

That is why I was reluctant to watch the giro this year... because Froome had good chances but should not be racing until he gets clarity on his doping violation.

Exactly like Contador when the rider (and perhaps team and sponsors) put their own personal interest above everything else.

A true sportsperson would not be participating. A sportsperson who knows how tainted the sport was and how much the real fans have been mislead over and over again would not be participating.

But this is a big ‘screw you’ on top of a ‘screw you’.

And another podium finisher cracks and abandons !!

Still, at the end, I couldn’t be bothered watching what should have been a great stage. Nice finish for MS taking a 5th stage win.

sur la plaque!!!

I almost feel bad for that, he made a big effort and that’s to be admired. But this perpetuating the “cheese eating surrender monkey” stereotype earns it

Whilst there was some great racing up until Yate’s implosion, I lost the desire to watch after the “Great Escape”. Bennett’s comments sum up my feeling exactly. Actually there was a great piece on Velonews that was balanced and probably sums up the situation well.

Not watching the last stage tonight, but consoling myself with the Monaco GP with Danny on Pole !!

Exactly my thoughts. This is a ticking time bomb for the giro and cycling. It already looks pretty terrible with headlines of 'dude under drug cloud wins giro'.

And yes Dan Ric's pole lap was a blinder  one for the ages
