Found, Yippee!

Hi All,

My custom TWE rear road wheel has gone walkabout. The TWE courier handed it to someone in my building  about a fortnight ago. It has been missing since. The wheel looks like the one on the website here: TWE wheel

The building is 141 Walker St, Nth Sydney.

The only hope i hold out on is that Karma catches up with the person who took off with it. It is built for a 70kg rider so hopefully it buckles on them on a steep descent

I'm absolutely gutted. The courier claims he handed it to someone in the building that said they knew me

No signature nor proof he dropped it off. No idea on who it was. There is over a thousand people in the building so chances are slim.

Looks like i'm about to ruin the good relationship i had with the wheel builder to come to some sort of replacement arrangement. What should i expect? Full replacement? Nothing? Meet half way?

They ahve no proof it was ever delivered. IMO, handing it to some random isn't delivery anyway. It's their responsibility unless you arranged the courier.

What you should expect is a full replacement or full refund, nothing else.

So just handed it to someone randomly? Does your work have a reception - thats where all my gear gets dropped off and signed for.

As you describe it, I would say the issue here is between the courier and TWE. Courier company should have a process that covers lost goods.

Sounds like the courier wanted a new rear wheel . . .

Well i didn't want the courier in the first place - i wanted to go and pick it up. But TWE insisted it get couriered which was easier as they are in the middle of moving the premises.

By the sounds of it, it was an opportunist theft - someone came up and said they knew me and will pass it on. Courier handed over the wheel and went.

I'll get in contact with the wheel builder and see what insurance he's got. He's on holidays for 2 weeks i think but i'll drop him an sms to let him know what happened.

Thanks for the advice so far!

hahaha, yeah i thought that too, but when i rang him this morning to ask what happened he went through his current wheel deliveries. A pair of zipps with a powertap, a carbon tubular & track wheels. Mine are lower down the chain.

But none as practical as your set of wheels!

My experience with couriers is poor, in the sense they really don't take adequate care in collecting the appropriate signature. They typically just take a signature from whoever they bump into and run.

Yep.

Courier should have a isgnature of who took delivery of the goods.
If they do not then the goods were never delivered.

I received a call saying it's at the LBS, head down and pick it up. Not sure on exactly what happened but it was either delivered there or someone dropped it in.
