Stolen: Bacchetta Bellandare Recumbent - Kew, Melbourne

Bike Details:
Bacchetta Bellandare Recumbent bicycle, red. The bike has a rear rack with orange and black panniers. The seat is a mesh-back, and has a large yellow bike bag on the back. There is a logo on the bike advertising the shop where it was bought, "Flying Furniture". The bike also has a handlebar bag. I've included the only photo I have (from first day I rode it) below.

When and Where:
The bike was stolen (not locked) from an underground business car-park in Kew (Melbourne) on Wednesday 30 March 2011, some time between 8:30am - 5pm.

Any information greatly appreciated!

that is terrible news. I've had a yellow bacchetta for 5 years and dread having it stolen. But also miss having a bacchetta community in Melbourne. If you get your bike back and want to meet for a ride on a Melbourne bike path let me know! Gill

thanks for your reply - I'm keeping my eye out and fingers crossed for you. I live in Hughesdale, ride to work at Monash and also do social riding, mainly bike paths into Melbourne and environs. I'm not sure when the barrage of 'sick' 'cool' 'did you see that!!!!' will start to wear thin, I'm so comfortable and used to my bike now that it always comes as a shock not to be seen as 'normal'. How 'cool' to be a double though. I've dropped subtle hints to my husband to get one but he hasn't responded. I've also seen a recumbent/normal bike tandem made in Germany - that would be fun too.

Hi Katie,

it is a yellow Bacchetta Giro 20 (small front wheel). I bought it from flying furniture in Canberra. Ian had me try a few, but I just liked this one the best.

There is a pretty interesting Boston Baccheta users group - when I feel too isolated I imagine going to Boston and joining their group! Heres a link: http://bosrug.blogspot.com/ They don't seem too afraid of the cold weather either.
