I hear ya about Carlton being a not very safe place for bikes. My first was stolen from Parkville, locked in the stairwell of an apartment block.

I'd be looking at taking the next bike, when you get one, into your house, if they can bust through a New Yorker, anywhere in the open is not going to save it.
