Idler thoughts in Perth

Postby just4tehhalibut » Fri Nov 14, 2008 5:29 pm

I want to make some chain management idlers for some recumbent bikes (highracer and LWB) that I'm about to weld up so I need a source for Delrin rod in Perth, small offcuts if possible. I've seen Delrin on Ebay but too small a diameter, also there was another company selling the stuff but only in commercial, wholesale quantities and ultra expensive. Any ideas?

Also if anyone has any better ideas for material to use?

Thanks in advance.

A bearing shop - they usually have industrial plastic rods or can order them in.

Yes, I get mine from local bearing place.

Lately I've modified in line skate board wheels for idlers.

For a larger idler I needed I got a 100mm or so plastic pulley used on fitness equipment from the fitness/sporting goods store. Had to replace the crappy bearing in it though.

use a rear derailler or parts off one, and you also get lateral adjustment to boot.
