Well they look cheap so they shouldnt cost too much to try out ;). Lets hope their DI2 hydraulic solution i am hanging out for is a little more refined...

Now that SRAM have revealed (sort of) their hydro setup due in 6 months, I wonder what the BB7 update will be to counteract the Shimano offering ?

Can't be much uglier ? Mind you, at least the Shimano one was in black for the road ....

its odd that the road version is heavier (180 vs 156g) than the cx version, the calliper looks identical... It isn't' clear from the pics how you adjust the pads, I hope there is inboard pad adjustment as well as outboard, otherwise there will be much rotor flexing going on!!

Well, have now covered some 500km with the TRP instyalled, and will finish the writeup today and send off to Christopher, so stay tuned for the full writeup and pics.

All still going really well, with no issues whatsoever. Works brilliantly, and looks great, so happy with the conversion. If I could only get the bits to shorten the hoses ....

However, in the latest c r c specials flyer, they have a deal on these - wouldn't they be sweet on a road bike :D :D :D

Ain't nought sexier than my xtr one piece m988 calipers...

How come no pictures? How dare you update without some jpeggy action for those strung out on cables, madly waiting for SRAM red hydraulics...

OK, here are some pics of the TRP Parabox installed (apologies for the average quality) and orientation

Hmmmm, Hydro calipers too. :D

Cant quite make out what they use to convert to hydro. Shifters don't look like Campagnolo ones and crank is DA 7900. Nothing re brands are mentioned in the article save that the calipers are standard PM brand, and that the discs are 140mm F&R.

C59 no less..... not sure about the colour though :?

Another pic from the Colnago website

What shifters are they ?????? There is Formula written on the brake levers ....

I just came in here to post the same link! I wanna know the rear hub spacing and if they are selling the wheels separately... Where'd those shifters come from???

Hot off the press - appears no-one has ever seen the levers before http://road.cc/content/news/54088-tapei ... -road-bike

I love the look of the bike, at least the red bits, those frame connections to the caliper look really clean and fluid and well thunk through. Might have to remortgage.

The shifters are Di2 compatible with hydro master cylinder made by Formula the same company that makes the calipers and rotors.

The dropouts are new and they accept a 135mm hub width.

From the Road cc article ;

"But what about hydraulic drop levers?", I hear you cry. Well, this bike is running Dura Ace Di2, which opens it up to options such as the third party Tektro levers that are knocking around at Taipei right now. They're not finished yet, but clearly Formula have been busy because their levers are.

I find it interesting that they went with Shimano (the Colango Tifosi must be having coniptions right now) and it appears that the other suppliers (Tektro & Formula) are targetting Di2 compatibility rather than EPS.

Also, from MHE, the 140mm front aint big enough, especially on a big descent, and if a WW wants to toy wioth the discs and save weight, there could be some interesting issues .....

The levers do look good though - more like the older shimano shape

I think the 140 front rotor will turn out to be a mistake unless it is something special (like an Ice-Tec rotor). Should be easy to change to 180 though.

Well it has taken some time, but the manufacturers are finally starting to see the sales potential.

Edit: You have to be quick around here. :)

I'm toying with the idea of getting an IR Temp doohickey and doing some tests down a local descent to show the temp rise on key items on both my roadies - discs vs rim brakes to dispel/prove some myths - bit like a mythbusters episode.

No explosions planned though ....

From memory, quality IR temp gauges are pretty pricey. If you're only going to use it for a day or so, you might want to think about hiring one from a company that hires out electronic test equipment. Just a thought.

I'd imagine that it wouldn't be easy to fit a fluid reservoir and shifting mechanism into the same brake lever head, so they probably had no choice but to choose an electronic group set.

Interesting times.

Then it's not worth doing :P
It would be interesting to see some real figures tho'.

More info re the C59 system from Bike Rumour

http://www.bikerumor.com/2012/03/07/lea ... road-bike/

339g for the brifter, hydraulic lines, caliper & disc (per wheel)

Image

As a comparison, the TRP Parabox was 790g (Converter, hydraulic lines, calipes and discs) for both wheels, but does not include the STI shifter.

And now hwew is TRP's version of full hydraulic shifters - the Hywire integrated with Di2

http://m.bikeradar.com/road/gear/articl ... look-33380

Image

The big difference between the Formula and the Tektro systems is how they do the shifting. The Formula appears to use individual levers (much like shimano does), wheras Tektro use buttons.

So now, there are 3 known players with two full hydro shifters. Tektro & Formula using Di2 and SRAm to have a Mechanical shift full hydro.

Who and what is going to be next !!!
