Garmin report
My report suggests the max cadence is 193 ( I wish), but when I hover the button over the highest part of the cadence graph it shows 100rpm, which would be correct, any ideas??

Your cadence chart suggests overwise. Contact garmin and report a glitch.

I have had this as well. Most likely to be that you coast with your left foot back and the magnet is hovering over the sensor.
This is pretty easy to replicate off the bike by rotating the cranks by hand to line up the sensor and magnet and then vibrating it quickly. bad description but i think you know what i mean.

My highest recorded number is 240 (Edge 705), and playing around with it this is what I found.
All the sensor is recording is how often the magnet is passing it. If you have crank horizontal whilst coasting, or slightly waving up and down past the senor it will record a very, very fast cadence as the sensor doesn't 'know' that magnet/crank has not done a revolution.

Hm, that will be interesting... I ride right foot forward with the pedals at 9 and 3 quite a lot.

I dont have a garmin but I have a polar and I also get this same issue.
My guess as to what happens is the time at which my watch detected this high value it was not at a recording interval. i.e. My watch records a point every 5 second and I assume this value did not occur on that 5 second point.
I see this on cadence and highest speed where those max values on the watch are higher than any point on my graph.
I also assumed that these high values are caused by interference more so than "vibrating" the pedal round about the sensor, but I guess the latter is highly plausible.

That explains my cadence of roughly 220...
Now explain how I can ride to Antarctica and back within 4 hours and only do 114km...
