What size stem ?

I have a Apollo Himalaya rigid frame MTB and want a more upright riding position so I'm looking at replacing the stem with an adjustable stem, stem extender or similar. Anyway my headtube internal diameter is 1 1/8" and my stem measures 1" in diameter - I assume I need to replace it with a 1"stem - is this correct ??

Correct. It would be a good idea to measure the handlebar at the stem clamp point. It should be 25.4mm also.
