Cheers. Tidying up the cabling was made easy by a pair of Terracycle cable clamps on the riser, a neat alternative to bar tape I think.

I do like the look of the new '08 XT stuff, I think they did a good job with the restyling. One perhaps surprising change with the new dual control levers over the previous version though, no optical gear indicators. In practice I don't actually miss them really, but it's not obvious to me why they got dropped.

I may experiment a bit with flaring the levers, but they feel pretty good already

The pump (a Topeak Road Morph w/ gauge) is mounted in a frame mounting clip that came with it. The clip has holes to enable bolting to bottle cage braze ons, so I've attached it to the under-boom bottle cage position (where your light bracket is attached).

The ugly black lump perching on the boom is the battery pack for my front light, a Busch & Muller Ixon Speed. I got a Terracycles accessory mount for the light, to replace the Minoura Space Grip I'd used previously (which are famously made of cheese). You can see what's going on in this pic:



The front end of my bike is getting a bit cluttered...

That reflector is seriously anti aero stuck up there , would it fit lower down?

Well, it's in front of the handlebar riser so it's not adding to my frontal area... Aerodynamics aside, it does look pretty ugly having it sticking up out there

I'm having a bit of difficulty fitting everything onto the front derailleur post. My cadence sensor is taking up the bottom part, which is ideally where the ends of both of the light mount arms should be attached so the headlight would be low down in front of the bottom bracket. But because the cadence sensor is in the way I have to have attach the arms higher up, straddling the inconvenient Bacchetta badge, which puts the light quite high up. The only space then left for the reflector is above the front derailleur clamp, which looks silly. I could just leave it off, of course...

Actually, what I'm thinking of doing is going with fork leg light mounting instead which will clear up the clutter from the bottom bracket area and also have the added bonus of pointing my light more consistently where I want it when going round corners. I actually have two of those Ixon Speed light heads, so one each side towards the top of each fork leg, mounted using these would be perfect.

Regarding the reflector, I would get some of that reflective tape and put it on the BB shell. I'd also put some around each crank arm.

I haven't done it myself, but I'm not running any reflectors on the front (mea culpa).

The lack of gear indicators on the new Shimano stuff would encourage you to buy one of their Flight Centre computers, which have the gear indicators built into them.

PS - it's not really an end to my cynicism .....

+1 on the tape, got it on the headtube, seattube, seatstays and on the rims, jeez she stands out.
