It's like Christmas and Father's Day all at once

Yesterday the mailman brought two packages from Bike24 and Chain Reaction - ordered 3 weeks apart but arrived at the same time... So I spent last night working in the "shed" (aka kitchen annexe) installing:
new headlight (Philips)
new taillight (Philips)
new grips (Ergon)
new rear brake pads (Clarks)
new helmet pads (soo comfy! feels like new again)
new spoke reflectors (Proline Velo Marker)
Plus two new jerseys to wear (Endura and Campagnolo), two new pair of gloves (Ergon), a set of cone wrenches, and a tube of Nexus grease for the rear hub.
Very happy with it all

Good for you, I get the same warm fuzzy feeling when packages arrive from bike related companies, however that is often squashed by the "not another bike related package" comment from SWMBO.

This is exactly what my wife and kids say!
I don't get any grief since my wife started buying clothes on line. I don't complain about her on line spending, she doesn't complain about mine. WIN-WIN!

I justify my expenditure by not paying for public transport. The wife understands that, and I do TRY and limit the spending.....

a purchase over $50 requires a capital expenditure request, and a lot of grovelling.

Easy - just produce a cost/benefits analysis comparing the cost of your cycling purchases to say, golf, or maybe jet skiing, or maybe hang gliding.

I used to play golf. membership was $1400/year
saturday comp was $12/wk
chips and drinks after the game $10/wk
if i kept playing i would have required new clubs (irons) $700
so the next year membership was going to cost me about $2500 PLUS clubs
last year I spent less than $2500, got a new bike and lots of bits for the bike. This year, so far I've spent less than $1500 and am less than $300 in the red for the year. (I have quite a few spares now)
she understands, just not always happy, when she wants a new car and I'm already talking about a new bike middle of next year....
Was out finding a new modem after the current one rolled over on the weekend
