They have been gone for a while but not really released it.

Not surprising given the myriad of issues with their wheels

Do tell.
I have not read of any serious issues and I have not experienced any with mine.

that would be why. there have been a few incidents with clinchers blowing tyres off the rims.

They have not vanished. It's too early to say whether they are dead.

I actually race in the Koiled road team alongside Shannon and have had my Mad Fiber tubulars for probably close to a year.
They are super light at around 1kg for the pair and my set with tyres, skewers and tubulars complete comes in at approx 1.7kg.
They are great wheels for crit and road racing but I am not convinced I would ride them (or any deep dish carbon wheelset) day to day or on hilly courses.
I have seen the results of carbon wheels being used in the mountains.
I will agree that they can be twitchy in the wind but a combination of super light weight, wide bladed spokes and deep dish is going to do that.
I guess you need to ride what is best for the conditions you have on the day.
I am not a massive guy at around 83kg and 6'3", but these are definitely not flimsy, flexy wheels.

My summary is that these are a great wheel for the right application and I dont have any hesitation in recommending them for that application.

Ouch, that's terrible. I somehow missed that. :(

I think it's a lesson to only ride inexpensive bikes on the road, given the remarkable ability for motorists to crash into us.

I think it's a lesson to ride the most expensive bikes possible on the road. For three reasons,

1) If some f##ktard is going to kill me on the road I'd prefer my best bike to be under me for my last ride.

2) If they they don't kill me I want them to cop the biggest hit possible, their drivers license pays for personal injury so they'd be expecting to only owe $200/$300 to pay for the bike - I'd love to see their face when the $15k bill arrives from my bike insurance company.

3) Considering they'll probably get a piss weak fine for doing the damage anyway the bike cost bumps up the 'fine' total to a decent number at least.

My 2c

My thoughts exactly...
My insurance company just went after an at-fault driver after taking me out, with a $13,500 bill.... That may remind them to respect, and give way to other vehicles (including bikes) with the right away!

Didn't think of that. My bike is only around $5500 worth. Still a frightfully expensive lump of dollars though.

Bike was paid out just fine.
Currently arguing with Suncorp over why I should provide them with additional information over and above what they have in the police report for my injuries claim.
It is quite obvious that they are trying to reduce their liability due to road conditions and somehow implicating my riding behaviour (well under the speed limit whilst in a bicycle lane) into the equation.
