Creaking caliper brake

Any tips for getting rid of a creaking noise from a caliper brake?

Dia-Compe 806 dual-pivot to be specific, and it seems to be coming from the return spring. Oil applied at all points has not worked...

Remove. Dismantle. Inspect. Clean thoroughly. Refit. Creak will probably disappear unless alloy is cracked?

Perhaps a binding cable too?

It is brand new, brand new cable...

Liberal application of WD40 cured it.
