Would make a good boat anchor.

Like everything you get what you pay for. Never ceases to amaze me that parents will spend $4k plus on a bike for themselves but wouldn't spend a quarter of that to get a decent bike for junior.

@Jacks, that could well be because kids change size so rapidly, somewhat defeating the purpose of buying a 'keeper' bike.

That being said I tend to see many teenagers riding bikes that they probably should have gotten rid of when they were 6...

Most adults I know would change their bikes over quicker than the kids would grow out of them

Resale on a decent kids bike is also very good compared to an adult bike.

Yep, I was horrified how heavy my 3yr old's Kmart special was, especially after picking up a Madone 5.2 earlier that week.

Where are the 16"and 20" models then? It is easy to get 24" at a light weight.

How much does this bike weigh? It’s a common question, and rightly so. But the truth is, there are no industry standards for claiming bike weights—and this leads to a lot of misinformation. Variances exist based on size, frame material, finish and hardware. And as bikes get lighter, these differences become more critical. My wife recently came home from a garage sale with a kids bike for $10.00., perfect, could'nt buy the tyres for that, but why have they got two top tubes????
I would estimate it weighs 10/12kg plus???????????????? Grandson had one ride & went straight back to his undersize lightweight
