Seam Gap in unused rim...

Postby simonsausage » Thu Jan 10, 2013 10:32 am

Hi all,
I have a good quality tubular rim (Galli 'Paris Roubaix') that has been laying around unused for many years.
Was about to try to sell it, but just noticed that the join/seam of the rim has the tiniest gap. I can't even fit a fingernail in there.
But is this a cause for concern? I am wondering if, when it is laced up, will the pull of the spokes seal the gap up
or make it worse???
I don't want to sell to someone if its no good.

As a buyer, it wouldn't bother me in the slightest. Not a structural problem; spoke tension will hold things together. Maybe a little blip under brakes, bu the first ride in the rain would fix that.

I like this answer!
And if it's actually used on the track hopefully it should be even less of an issue.
Thanks!
