Scruffed Carbon Fibre Ultegra Shifter - Reseal w. nailpolish

Hi guys. A friend of mine recently had a fall on his bike and one of the Ultegra shifters got a bit scruffed. Nothing structural, just got rid of the clear coat.

Is exposed CF okay? I thought some clear nail polish might be fine to seal it back up as it's a lacquer but I wasn't sure if the acetone would begin to do more harm than good.

Thoughts? :?:

Clean the area with some acetone or lacquer thinner and apply some clear nail polish. If you want a perfect repair, then several coats will be required, followed by careful sanding with 1000 grit sandpaper.

A very gentle sand then clear coat.

Thanks Lachlan. I contacted Shimano and they said nailpolish would be fine.
