Adjusting Tiagra SL-4600 Flat Bar Shifters

Postby Blackrock » Sat Feb 09, 2013 6:49 pm

Hi, changed bikes and the new one comes with Tiagra shifters. I had Ultegra which was crips and immediate. The Tiagra front shifter has a very large travel to change to the large chain ring. It has started to showtime me and is kinda awkward as you have to alter your wrist on the grip to get all the way across. The SL-4600 are for 10 speed cassettes and this is on a flat bar road bike.

Is there any way that I can adjust the lever so that the travel is shorter to shift gears? I've looked at the shifter manual, but it doesn't mention that adjustment.

Appreciate any ideas and help.
Paul

No, sorry.

Perhaps some sort of Shift-mate arrangement would do it but mounting it would be its own headache. Would only work for the front of course.

Scratch that, you'd still have to move the lever the same amount to make the index ratchet work.

Back to my first thought, No, sorry.

thanks for your advice anyway. It's still giving me the shits.

I think I'm doomed to have a massively muscled left thumb from doing the equivalent to bench-presses!!
