After spending the last couple of weeks doing some odd jobs on my road bike I have realised that there are a few things I probably should have kept more on top of maintenance wise.

How often do you service your bike and what is involved.

I clean and lube every couple of weeks but other than that I don't really do any work unless something breaks.

Every week...the used bikes get a clean & lube. We share the same ride area. The dust along the River eats chains and bearings on the MTB. The roadie is less vulnerable but the cross bike gets a hammering. All of them get a complete tear down, clean and re-grease every six months or so...

Otherwise like you it's when stuff wears out or breaks...which seems to be frequently despite my relatively few kms.
Ours is not to reason why...merely to point and giggle
