Can you rebuild Joe Blow Turbo track pumps?

Postby Ross » Wed May 08, 2013 4:39 pm

My Joe Blow Turbo track pump seems to be wheezing and not pumping air into the tyres. I can't see anything wrong there's pretty much only the hose that goes from the pump body to the pump head to go wrong and there doesn't seem to be any cracks, splits or holes so I'm thinking there must be some seals inside the pump that are worn out. Can you rebuild them, is there a parts kit (or individual seals) available?

I have the "smarthead" not the "twinhead", probably will do the job but I'm not sure where the large o ring is for. I need to order some other stuff from Wiggle so might just add this to the order It's only very cheap so if it doesn't work then it's no big deal (except I will have to buy a new pump).

First, try putting a little light grease or heavy oil on the piston seal as they don't pump very well dry.

Turns out the repair kit isn't compaible with my pump. Luckily it was only cheap. Turns out also that the problem with the pump was the shaft had come unscrewed slightly from the body of the pump causing and air leak. Tightened it up and it's as good as new. I couldn't find the workshop fail thread to post this in there...
