Fixing Bottom Bracket Shell

Postby hanzao » Fri Jun 14, 2013 10:27 am

I dont know what that area is called but it is where you put your bottom bracket in..
I got a dodgy carbon frame off a mate and he said the bottom bracket shell is slightly miss aligned.. so when you put the bottom bracket in its not in smoothly you can fee the slight friction/tension.. anyone know how to re-thread / re-align bottom bracket bit or anyone i WA that can do that stuff?

If you're using an external bearing crankset you might just need to have the bottom bracket shell faced. Most LBS's should be able to do this.

It could also be dirty or otherwise poor quality BB threads - in my experience the #1 reason why BBs don't thread in particularly nicely. Most any LBS will have a tool that can clean up and re-tap the BB threads, and do it for you for a nominal fee (the actual tool is quite expensive).
