26" rims for V Brake

I've just worn out my old front rim, the V brake crushed in half the wall yesterday. I'm now commuting on rear brakes only very tentative.
I've seen a DT Swiss XR 4.1 d wheel up for sale but the 'd' at the end i think indicates for disk use. They did make a rim barke model as well which from what i gather has a wear indicator. Perhaps this is the only difference as the weight is identical other than machined face which could self machine by my pads.
Does anyone know why they might not work on rim brakes rather than disks??
