Hi,
I while back I came to own a used small, cheapo 25l air compressor. I'd like to make sure the oil level is right but as I don't have any of the original documentation and the dip stick has no discernible markings I'm wondering if anyone has a similar bit of kit and might be able to let me know how much oil theirs takes.
Cheers
Jean

Does it have a window to check the oil level as well? A few of the cheapo (but slightly larger) compressors I have had all had a window with a dot in the centre. Fill to middle of the dot and off you go....

I think you just need to have a trace of oil showing on the dipstick.

Thanks. There's no window (or if there is I've missed it so far) so that doesn't work. There is certainly oil on the dip stick, and while there is a step in the edge on the dip stick near the bottom, its not clear if that is meant to be the level or not. The oil reaches the step, but whether that matters is unclear.
The only bother is that it does start to give off a metallic pong as it heats up and I wanted to make sure there is enough oil. I ran out of oil in my mower last summer ( ), so I'm a bit edgy about burning small motors out.
