Chaining derailleur cable

I've got a shimano deore integrated brake/shifter on my mtb. I'd like to change the derailleur cables, but I can't seem to open the shifters easily + I'm too scared to open it without more info. How do I change the cables? Anyone have done this and can give me a few tips? (I've changed the brake cables, so no advice needed on general cable changing).

Don't know to work on Deore myself, but in nearly all cases of integrated shifters the cable must be in the detente position (slackest) for the cable nipple to be accessible and withdrawn through the shifter body and housing. It simply cannot be done otherwise, usually. Hope that helps.

Look for some sort of cover on the cable port Dhat, they like to hide stuff.
