Hello all, the inside of my rain jacket has come undone. Wondering if anyone knows how/what to restick it?
Its not part of the outer layer so it doesnt have to be water tight, but I'd like the glue to last, including going through the wash.
When stuck down it looks like this
any ideas? thanks for looking.
This is whatcha need;
Good stuff. I fixed an old Goretex hiking jacket with it. Works and sticks very well. Purpose made for your job.
Make sure both surfaces are clean before use.
thanks @Tim just ordered some from the internetz after I couldn't find any in the local stores walking around at lunch.
@KGB I don't know if the shoe goo i bought is a defect, but it never seems to stick onto anything.
I'd be wary of the Shoe-goo suggestions. There seems to be a school of thought it seems to fix just about everything.
I've got a tube I've attempted to use on a number of things to varying degrees of success. Whilst I'd stop short of writing it off altogether; it dries quite stiff and rigid in my experience and wouldn't be suitable for clothing or fabric of any description.
Since I keep misplacing my common sense down the shed, I guess I'll have to borrow someone elses off the internet.
Fair points, its been ages since I've actually used it - I was just picturing it as a flexible, rubbery adhesive but apparently that's not the case!
The seam seal stuff definitely looks like the right product for the job.
+1 on Seamgrip, also Stormshure and Aquaseal. They are all the same chemical but the 1st 2 are a thinner version. These are the strongest and longest lasting repair glues for anything vinyl or rubber, inflatable for waterproof or marine use. I have used them fo 30 years and the 1st repairs are still good. Even used it on road tyre punchers with no patch required as the repair is stronger than the original. Used on fishing waders, gumboots and air beds. Neverleaks again and outlasts the product by far. Just recap and store the tube in the freezer to keep it from setting. Mix with Cotol to set faster.
thanks guys, have stuck it back down with seam grip.
couldn't get the very edge stuck down in all places. Ill see how it goes.
thanks for reminding me about the freezer thing, i did read it but forgot about it. Going in the freezer now.
