Hi all,
I was rushing installing a cassette on a new set of wheels and manage to thread out the lockring by hand. Didn't even realise I'd done it until I spun the cassette, and the lockring was off axis!
Anyway. Is there any difference between the 10 and 11 speed lockrings? I have a few 10 speed lockrings around the place but no 11 speed. And all the LBSes that I called don't stock spares.
I know that you need to have a 11t lockring for an 11t cassette... just wondering if the 10 and 11speed lockrings are the same.
Cheers.

There is no difference that I am able to detect.
I'd suspect the the 10/11-sp. marking is an identifier for the cassette as a whole, rather than the locknut specifically. Shimano 10-sp. cassettes (Dura-Ace, Ultegra/105, but not Tiagra or any MTB) have a deeper spline to suit Shimano's now-defunct 10-sp. specific freehubs, while 11-sp. cassettes need a longer freehub than 8/9/10-sp.

I had a thought, but it got run over as it crossed my mind.
