Hi, my bike (2010 Giant CRX1 flat bar road bike, 700C) has Tektro RX1 mini V brakes which have some broken plastic parts around the return spring on one front arm. This makes adjusting very fiddly and I would rather just buy a new set than try and source the bits & pieces before these fail all together...
According to any info I can find on line these brake arms measure 85mm. Mine measure more like 100mm although from the centre of the mounting hole to the centre of the cable mount pivot they are 85mm. Is that how they're measured?
I'm having trouble sourcing RX1's but apparently the more readily available Tektro RX3 & RX5 are also 85mm.
Can I just buy some RX3's or 5's and bolt them straight on or are there other factors to consider?
Thanks.
Greg.

They're measured between the mounting post and the cable, so yours are 85mm.
You can replace them with any 85mm caliper easily. I've used Tektro 926ALs and they're fine, but the RX5s are better I reckon.

Direct swap, the only differences between RX 1 3 and 5 are cosmetic and the brake pads.

Well, I went for a scratch around in the shed and found a pair of Tektro 926AL's that I will swap out with my dodgey RX1's.
Amazing what can be found in my shed when I dig deep enough
Thanks for your help.
