(Paging Duck or anyone with comparative experience)
I have some new bars to fit to my bike (carbon ones that were a score from a bargain bin, nicer shape than my current ones)
Currently my cable routing (105 5700) is on the inside of the bend of the bars.
(option (1) in this PDF: http://cycle.shimano-eu.com/media/techd ... 702880.pdf )
The new bars have a groove underneath the tops for cleaner cable routing, which looks like it would line up with running the cables on the outside of the bend (option (2)).
Is this a worthwhile change? (It would require new cables not just swapping on the current ones...) I find my gears are a little sluggish in both directions occasionally, so if the larger bend on the outside reduced friction maybe that would help?
Shimano shifter cables - inside or outside bend?

5700 shifting is a bit ordinary at the best of times, so if the bar has got channelling to run the cables outside the curve, make the most of it.
Unless the current cables are stuffed & due for replacement anyway, there shouldn't be any need to replace them just because of the routing, it's not that big a difference.

I had a thought, but it got run over as it crossed my mind.

Cool thanks, will just bolt them up with some new bar tape.
Bars were Colnago HB-01 for $15

New bars installed; didn't have the cable length to run outside the bend so left it on the inside. Can't wait to test them out (once my knee feels better), can definitely feel that they flex more.
