Speedplay Pedals

Postby jackthelad » Mon Sep 04, 2017 7:40 pm

i bought these pedals a few months ago
last night and this morning, i regreased and purged them as best as i could
they seemed to be quite empty, but also full of stubborn solid old grease
going forward, is it best i try and get the pedals used and grease moving again
and purge in a few months? i'm not a road rider, so may take longer than normal.
Do they actually normally full of a reasonable amount of grease ?

new pedals? I have had speedplay pedals sit for 1+ years before using them and not had this issue.

In terms of amount of grease, since grease goes in via the grease port and out the other side, I am not sure one can actually put more (or less) grease.

Second hand Facebook Purchase
Supposedly serviced by a bike shop regulatarly type of guy
nearly rounded off pedals flats kind of guy.....
who builds pedals that need pedal wrenches for installation , these days
No matter, they feel better, than they did, and i think got most of the dirty grease out,
but i think, it had hardened a little, quite a push, in no rush, since normally a mountain biker

This is what I do too. It only takes a couple of minutes... similar time to a chain re-grease. I'm using the same set of pedals I bought in 2011 and they are fine so if you look after them they'll look after you.

if "hardened" just mean hard to push, then yeah mine are pretty hard to push the grease out as well. Remember to spin the pedal body as you push the grease out, I found this made it easier.

From memory of some of OP's other posts you have parts which use the proper grease port fittings, I'd think it would be easier with them as you don't have to apply pressure on the part while squeezing the greases gun.

Yeah,
i have a pistol grip mini grease gun, but was just playing ghetto with a syringe,
as i need to get a needle nose fitting for my grease gun, and wanted to start using the pedals
which is a start, considering the filth that came out of seal, happy , i got as much grease in each pedal as i did
