Cassette compatability - Axis Classic

Postby filippimini » Sun Oct 01, 2017 6:37 pm

Hi all,

This may be a long shot, but worth a try.
I picked up a new trainer that came with a spare (training) wheel. It has a nine speed cassette mounted. I want an 11 speed.

The wheel is an Axis Classic with the writing TETRO 622 x 16 on the side. Is this going to be possible?

If there is a 1.85mm spacer behind the current cassette, then a road 11-sp. will fit. If there is no spcaer, then the only 11-sp. cassettes that will fit are Shimano SLX/XT/XTR MTB models, and the Ultegra-level, non-series HG800. Rear derailleur will be a limiting factor with all of them. The MTB models will only work with MTB 11-sp. derailleurs (and by extension, shifters), while the HG800 will work with R8000 Ultegra and 4700 Tiagra (which although labelled as "10-sp." is compatible with 11-sp. shifters). Other derailleurs may work, but no certainty is offered on that.
I had a thought, but it got run over as it crossed my mind.
