Hi All,
I broke a spoke on a rear Ultegra, I've bought a replacement and have the wheel in the truing stand. Now I've trued a couple of 32 spoke wheels to date but I'm otherwise a novice.
My question is, do I need to loosen off any of the other spokes in the wheel first or can I just bang the new one in and start winding it up?
Any other tips or advice would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Peter

Grease the thread first. if the new spoke is on the drive side, which will be built up to a higher tension than the non-drive side, back two adjacent NDS spokes off a little bit, pull the new spoke up to tension then retension the two adjacent spokes.
I had a thought, but it got run over as it crossed my mind.

Yep drive side.
Makes sense, nice and simple.
Thanks Duck!
