Hi
I've just noticed my rear Shimano RS785 hydraulic disc caliper is leaking oil when I apply pressure to it.
The oil is coming out from the pistons itself on one side.
Calling around some shops in Sydney, it doesn't look like anyone has it in stock.
Online, only c r c has it listed but it is also out of stock.
Anyone help?
I've read through some people replacing the seals but the actual Shimano seals are also not available to sell.
Looks like my road bike might get a few weeks off.

Bike 24 and SJS Cycles have them in stock but it will be two weeks for delivery I'd imagine. Try phoning Shimano Australia to see if they have stock.

Thanks.biker jk wrote:Bike 24 and SJS Cycles have them in stock but it will be two weeks for delivery I'd imagine. Try phoning Shimano Australia to see if they have stock.
I've tried: Cell, Parks Bikes, TBSM, Giant Sydney, Cycology(where bike was purchased from) and Bike Bug.
Do you guys think Shimano Zee Disc Brake Caliper M640 would work too?
I ride a Giant Defy Advanced SL1 2015 which has post mount brakes.

Did you call Shimano Australia? If they have stock your LBS could order them and it might only take a few days.li2099 wrote:Thanks.biker jk wrote:Bike 24 and SJS Cycles have them in stock but it will be two weeks for delivery I'd imagine. Try phoning Shimano Australia to see if they have stock.

Yes in the end, apparently Cell can order it in from Shimano Australia so I've ordered them.biker jk wrote:Did you call Shimano Australia? Will need to change my MTB to commuter tyres for now and ride that.

ive had mine leak.
i replaced it with BR805 if you cant find 785 and a post mount adapter.
hell you can even use mtb brake calipers but need the appropriate hose connections

Yes those would be an upgrade but looking for a post mount adapter would be a headache as I'm not savvy with bike mechanics. Only ever done gear cables, bleed brakes, general maintenance stuff, etc.tomee wrote:ive had mine leak.

Would have preferred to get it somewhere now/ tomorrow for weekend riding.

The four-piston caliper is overkill, especially on the rear. Plus it uses different pads, which something extra to consider when buying spares. The M615 or M6000 Deore calipers would be a better match.li2099 wrote: Do you guys think Shimano Zee Disc Brake Caliper M640 would work too?

I had a thought, but it got run over as it crossed my mind.

I use Zee and still alive.
Anyway, back on track, I have some brand new never used RS785 calipers from my setup.
Happy to post them for a reasonable price. I'll PM you my mobile.
